The Violin is Crying

The violin is crying
its grace caught within the curve
taut to almost fragile
it takes me to the ground
wrapped with icy winds
then to drown

It hurts it hurts to sing this way
the sound so sharp it points
a trill into the rhythm of today
with purpose movement away

Stay this thrill that takes me skyward
for too soon gone is time
and touch can only happen
if you let it play the satin
let it rip your hair around
until you face the grace

Listen
the violin is crying
not me

I have always thought the violin sounded like it was crying...but I could have never put it into words like this.
I hear it playing in my head.

OhMartie~
I've already sent this one to my son ...
he will understand this so well~

You made this mother's nostalgia come bouncing through the screen~
I could have sworn I 'heard' it crying ... I reached to turn up the speakers ... and realized quickly what I'd done~

Now if THAT isn't effective writing ..
I don't know what is~

Beautiful lady~

Martie I adore violin music, and you have done the violin such justice in this write.  How on earth do you take the same words I know, twist them to shreds, and come up with the most beautiful poetry ever to grace my mind and eyes?  This I have yet to figure out.  I agree with the Captain, if I could write like this I would be in bookstores, and this would be my passion.  Can you tell I loved this one, and it is the keeper of the year for me so far!

Dear Martie, I enjoyed the poem, to me it cries in the voice of beauty, brought out a little of something in me.

Sincerely Rick
The violin lay within its place till beaconed by the child
But with each stroke the bow did make, the violin only cried
For there was not the pleasured sound that it was taught to know
The melody was missing and the tempo had no flow

The child had heard the violin sing when mother came to play
But somehow all its happiness, had left and gone away
So there she cried, untaught and sad, but needing friend to sing
To learn the art of music, now just meant everything

Mother can you play it ? For me it only cries
So mother took her friend of years and wiped her daughters eyes
She played a tune so lovely, that a joy came to her heart
The married tunes of loveliness from violin came to part

The cries had turned to music, to the harmony of strings
The hand of taught through gift had shown the music that it brings
And all around could hear the sound, and knew, A Violin
Sirens cry from on their rocks, but violins seem to sing

The good news is, the violin (my favorite) is capable of all ranges of emotions, so here's to the changing tune. Enjoyed

violin crying
guitar softly weeps
bagpipes moan the widow waiting song

images come from your words
and blend with outhers
that are mostly forgotten sometimes

well done ms martie

Martie-
This is absolutely beautiful, and penned
in the way that only YOU can.
I love it, my friend.
