I'm going to have to say it was when I was sick one day and didn't go to school and I was hungry and my mom wasn't home....after school my GF made me some STUFFING and chicken and yea and brought it to my house for me to eat.
VERY sweet considering I just adore STUFFING!

I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust.

I guess it would have to be when my best friend took a chance and talked to me even when I was at first aloof towards her. It's graduated to a great friendship.

Recently, because two people in my department were fired and one was out sick, I had to put together a presention all by myself. One day I worked 12 hours straight - with only a 10 minute break to grab something to eat. I did it...on time and without errors!

There are 8 guys that depend on that presention for a commission - they came to town a couple of weeks ago and called me into their meeting. They handed me some American Express Gift Cheques. So did the Director of the Dept., the Supervisor and the VP. That week I got $700 in gift cheques....that was the nicest thing anyone has done for me recently.

THE nicest thing ever? Ron accepting my poetry at the main site - it gave me the confidence in my work that I'd lacked for so long......THAT is worth more to me than anything else!

The nicest thing anyone ever did for me... hmm...
The start of February, when Ron reinstated my posting priveledges.
Aside from that, maybe when my cousin Sheli introduced me to a genre of music that is so hidden and underground, I would never have heard of it otherwise.
And now, it's the only music I listen to, and I listen to it often. In fact, anyone who knows me will tell you I am a total nut when it comes to Industrial music.
So yeah, she made me more annoying in a way. Nicest thing she did for me, not the nicest thing she did for any of you.

Years ago, my 3 kids small, we were broke, and it was around Christmas. We couldn't afford so much as a tree.

My girlfriend, bless her heart, came knocking at my door with a tree, all the trimmings, lights and everything. She also bought 1 bag of clothes and toys for each of the kids, and one for me too.

Without her we wouldn't have had a Christmas that year. I will never ever forget what she did for me.

I've been awfully blessed in my life, but I think a couple nice things have really stood out. First is Abrahm, my boyfriend (Dusk Treader for those of you who don't know), letting me back into his heart when I hurt him very deeply. I thank God everyday that he saw the love we possess when I didn't. And I thank god that I see that love now too. Secondly would be the entrance of Lisa Kane, my guitar teacher into my life. Everything she's ever done falls into "the nicest thing" category in my book. She's taught me to play, to believe in my talent and in my writing, and been an incredible friend. People like her don't come around too often...it's so wonderful for me to have one in my life.

Nicest thing today?
Somebody took the time out of their already stressful morning to get up and get dressed, fight the freezing winds of April, and drive halfway across town just to bring me my fleece so I wouldn't shiver while watering the roses.

I am *so* spoiled.

The nicest thing.. I'm not sure, there isn't really one thing.. a few little ones that kinda stuck.. like when my best friend slipped me a note in maths class, after we'd had a fight in the previous class, and I'd sworn to myself not to forgive her.. it said "I'm so sorry Lynne.. can you ever forgive me?" I almost cried.. it wasn't I that needed to forgive her, but the other way around.. she kinda woke me up there.. she's a very special person, and I don't know what I'd do without her..

And when I played soccer with my big bro and his mates, one of his friends helped me with my soccer, teaching me skills etc.. and not laughing at me if I made mistakes.. and believe me, I made a lot! Although I loved soccer, I was never much good at it.. but he made me feel good about that.. and I thought that was pretty neat..

And everything my boyfriend does for me is the nicest.. like when he first tasted my cooking.. I burnt it terribly!! And it tasted awful.. only just edible.. but he ate it, and said it was nice.. he even had a second serving, (just to show me he was serious..) of course, now he teases me mercilessly about that, hehe.. but I thought that was just so sweet.. I was so embarrassed to have burnt it!
Yeah.. well those are some of the really nice things people have done for me.. that I really appreciate..

The nicest thing someone ever did for me?

I was about 10.  I had just tweaked my leg very badly. Broke it, actually.  I was on my way to ingest some pain medications when my uncle socks me in the stomach and sprals me out on the floor.  He said, "You want up?  Do it yourself, i'm not helping you."

It hurt like hell, but he taught me something very important that day.

er.. sorry I don't get it either.. what was the message? 'cuz if my Uncle ever did that to me, i don't think it would teach ME something.. well, save the fact that he was a bit peculiar, and that he'd just socked me in the guts.. perhaps 'expect the unexpected'? lol..

A woman who became my second Mum for awhile took me into her home after I'd left home at 16...living in the big city after moving there from a small rural town, I was essentially alone - underfed and desperately miserable. Didn't have a clue what I was doing.

She cared for me for three months without asking for a thing.

I'll never forget it, or her.

I'm blessed to have so many wonderful people in my life, so I might go on for awhile about these things.

My voice teacher believed enough in me to go to a vocal competition and play the accompliment for me in a town 2 hours away. She gave up a Saturday for me, and she didn't get mad at me when I messed up and lost... she started planning for next year!

My English teacher this year gave me a lot of encouragment with my writing. She even gave me a big book of publishers to send my stuff off to, and offered to pay any fees if I got something accepted. It's good to know that someone believes in me that much.

A certain busy young gentleman took the time to compliment me on my poetry. I value his opinion a lot, and his words really helped me see things a bit more clearly.

And then there's my great Passions people. Every kind word you guys say to me means the world to me. I appreciate and love you all!

Okay...I wasn't going to tell this story. But here goes:

I was at a barbecue, and as sometimes happens, we ran out of beer, etc. So, the guys decide to go to the store. Everyone is placing their orders, etc. and I decided it was a good time to ask for a pack of cigs. Well, the boyfriend/fiancee/whatever   decided to give me a hard time. As all our friends grew quiet, it became more humiliating for me, when a friend quietly called my boyfriend over (we'll just call the friend "Bo" since that is what's he's called)
and very quietly gave my boyfriend a fifty and said, "Here. Now you buy Miss Karen a carton of whatever is she likes to smoke."

Now I know I shouldn't smoke. But I do. And it wasn't about the cigarettes, it was at first, but BECAME more about power plays and humiliation--and my friend, generously, and with discretion put an end to that game immediately. It actually made me cry. And for the icing on the cake, "Bo" told me after the boyfriend went to the store--

"If you are going to cry over a carton of cigarettes, then someone needs to let you know that you are loved..." and hugged me too.

Wasn't that sweet?

sigh...love ya "Bo".
