... that long-distance relationships never work?

As I have been named the "poster child" for internet relationships, I thought it only fair that I be the one to point this out.

It seems that more and more of our members are finding love over the miles ... love that, contrary to the urban myths of stalkers and false identities, actually works.  Ain't it great..?

I hereby offer my thanks to Ron (again) for providing all us lovesick poets a place to meet each other, and congratulations to all of you who, like me and some girl from Florida (whose name I can't quite remember right now -- she keeps changing it on me LOL), have found at Passions the very thing we poeticize about in the first place.

I believe in love no matter where you find it. When is it going to be my turn?

I say so!

I do believe it. Anything can work out! Look at how long people have been placing personal ads, and I think this is an even better way. For those of you in a relationship (online, long distance or in the flesh) I wish you a happy Valentine's Day!

Sorry, never mind. This was a stupid reply.

I can relate to this completely, seeing that I have found my true soul mate through this here wonderful site.

Ah, the internet is great. There is one special guy I've talked to on here since the day I bought my 'puter. We just flirt around now, but who knows?? Maybe someday....

Best of luck, Micheal!

I'm in the group that certainly hopes they work, as I have found a soulmate online, too, although I did not meet him at Passions. (He is a poet, though. ) I have a sister who met her second husband online. They have been together for a number of years now, and have two sons. In fact, I think it is easier to find someone online, as you don't have things like outward appearances and initial shyness getting in the way so easily. It's much easier to be relaxed and get to know what's going on inside the other person, at least for me. And I hear of more and more relationships that started this way that do work, resulting in happy marriages between people who would never have heard of each other before they had this way of connecting! It's always interesting to hear arguments about how you can't really get to know someone online. I knew my former husband extremely well before we got married, had dated for three years, been engaged for 19 months, and it wasn't until we were married for more than 20 years that I got the crucial piece of information that made continuing the marriage impossible. I say if you find love, online or anywhere else, go for it!

Absolutely agree, Marilyn.

I've been having an online relationship for over a year now. We still haven't met, but when we do, we certainly won't have to go through any "ice-breaking" period or play any of the typical dating games. ...and guess who's calling me tonight (for the first time)? Yay!

Personally, i think it's a lost cause from the start, meeting someone over the internet. Sure, they might seem nice, but I highly doubt it would work out.

As it is elsewhere, if the love is there and you are willing to take the chance, it can, and does work. Now if I could only convince my angel.

Isn't it just wonderful getting to know someone from the "Inside Out"? It beats blind dates, bar rooms, and personal ads, doesn't it? I see only positives here...

The only drawback is proximity - People can be from just about anywhere and still connect... Oh Well... Who says we can't move a mountain or two???...
