Turtles are wonderful. They keep much inside that shell yet reveal the essence of self when they feel safe. And it's in that moment of safety’s reveal we feel we understand love, and the heart of a turtle. The hidden heart and soul comes out of its shell when it no longer fears the wrath of misunderstandings and differences. You know, it’s a nice goal to hope to live and love like a turtle. Turtles teach us the shell is to protect the heart, but not hide it. |

I know a few of them. (They are cute too.) You have a very special way of looking at things Kacy--I don't know who your special turtle is, but I do know yer pretty special yourself. |

Your insight is always more than remarkable. One never knows where a turle might live; or where a turtle might hide. Brava! |

This reminded me of a story. Well, not really a story, but sort of a tip should you ever happen to go bar slumming down the Belle Chase Highway here in Louisiana. There is a little tavern called "Verna's", and should you (god/dess forbid) find yourself in a circumstance that such a place would seem inviting to you, there's a little secret that will get you a free drink. The bartender will know you are new (trust me) and so he/she will ask you, "What kind of animal are you?" and yep, the correct answer is a turtle. I'm not sure how helpful the info is, but should you ever feel the desire to get drunk with a bunch of turtles, that would be the place. serenity's travel tip #287 |

Thanks for reading, James. I think guaranteeing even ONE 'turtle' moment per person could bring about enormous positive changes to our social environment. |

I very much enjoy this. There's a lot to simple metaphors like this one, especially when you extend them into an entire poem. I happen to think turtles are adorable, but emblematic of self-sufficient security. I suppose they are wonderful at that--- Thank you for sharing this gem. This is indeed something I hope never to forget. I can't even share my reasons, but oh yes....never forget. ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸ ¸¸ºº> ~~~(¸¸ER¸¸ºº> |
