                      billions

                      Witness
                      certain half domes
                      heaving like pale bilious mushrooms
                      about to burst
                      and send their
                      new spoor out to wander streets
                      and likely one day
                      by their unexamined natures
                      find their own saprophytic victims
                      to feed
                      and to swear allegiance to
                      regardless the masses
                      and the stench
