After yet another long while between writes, another poem. The fire roared The flames licked back the cold The light fought back the dark Comfort, safety, belief in life Belief the fire would always burn The fire lowers The cold approaches The dark creeps in Everything I always had Seems to fade away I still draw close The fire still burns Sometimes it grows And I believe That it will be full height again And once again, I will be safe But then it dwindles To barely a flicker But it’s still there It’s still there! And so I stay Until the fire lives again The way it used to be Or all the time Stay as it is Small, barely there But it’s there So I will stay If it goes out I will let the cold come in I will let the dark take me For nothing else shall remain And for now, I stay In the tiny little orb of light Of heat, of safety, of comfort In order to stay within I diminish I try not to think of that Because it’s still there Oh, make me Thine forever And should I fainting be Lord, let me never ever Outlive my love for Thee |

You see a fire that you believe is small and dying. I wonder if it seems that way because you are slowly moving away from it? Approach that fire, grow closer to it, and it might be more warm, larger than you thought it was. It is only waiting for you to come back to it once more. I wish you all the best, Erica.
