When the scorching heat of the day burns well beyond the outer shell, and buries itself deeply into my thin skin, I dream of the comforting coolness that resides within the hidden shelter of a solitary midnight. Stellar constellations offer some consolation, a prize I find myself receiving again while waiting for the grand prize. Passionate nights go unattended, but not for lack of opportunity. The tides understand, with their give-and-take attitude; the full moon reassures me it will be a blessing in disguise to stand alone on the shores. I am not convinced, but acquiesce. Cicadas sing while bullfrogs croak a rowdy note in the marshes and swamplands. All manner of creatures proclaim the Earth is their domain, yet only one claims to know the Creator. I am not that creature. And when day is done and the songs are all sung, who turns off the skylights? |

Mother Nature of course...shes always the last one up... you know--turning on the stars--polishing the moon--setting the alarm for the sun to come up...a womans work is never done you know. *L* |

Thoughts put very well into words. "cast me gently into the morning, for the night has been unkind" |

Kacy, You bring a smile to my face, always. And JM may be right, but more than once I thought I was the last one up! If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. |

Good morning, dear passionate friends. Thank you for sitting a sunset with me. We went to the coast yesterday, and watched a beautiful sunset after cruising back and forth between Lincoln City and Seaside, Oregon, and spending a short time at four different beaches. It was my daughter's first time on the Oregon coast, and she took over 100 digital photos. It's a good thing they are digital, as I can't imagine the developing/print costs with regular film. Of course, the camera itself cost about ten times the amount of a good film camera. LOL, but in the long run, it might cost less. I'm hoping she will allow me to share/post some of her artistic interpretations here soon. Thanks for helping to turn off the skylights 'round midnite, Larry. |

Allysa, thanks for you reply! LOL, I know you always reach for those lights. and Mr Young? thanks for your comment. It is true, my word choice is a bit...dull at times. LOL, but some days, I am just happy to be here and have ANY words come to my mind at whatever pace I can muster. Ypu will understand this comment more clearer when you are over 50 and have arthritis and allergies bugging you every day. BTW, I have been reading your stuff, you have a very interesting, active mind. |

I have read a good deal of your pieces, MidnightSun, but this is probably the best. Your descriptions are excellent and your painting of an outdoors person's kind of midnight is exquisite. This piece is beautifully written and the hint of religious or at least metaphysical language is cleverly woven in. This certainly goes into my library. 2+2=5 for sufficiently large values of 2 |

I am afraid to say that I am not familiar with your work, but after reading this rest assured that I shall be catching up with your wonderful writing. Andrew |
