A flicker, a fire |

The suddenness of the fire lit her eyes with an inner conceit I did not understand. She crouched toward the flame, while keeping a distance. Contemplative and intrigued, I approached her. A glow bronzed her lips, singed a hole through my vision of her. If I could grasp your hair, I wanted to say, to keep it from touching the flame, I would. I would. You'd what? she asked. Her smile edged out any threat of damage -- that close to her. Did I say that out loud? I asked (that close). Her hand found mine, within the smoke. A flickering beam fell through the trees. We wended our way back home. |

I would. *melting in this fire* how do some people make you say thoughts out loud without knowing it? some kind of voodoo magic. ~I wanna live, I wanna give, I've been a miner for a heart of gold~ Neil Young |

Yep. It can lead to quite revealing moments, as this poem shows. |
