In my headlights, against the garage, you were resting, a black-orange drop. I retrieved a broom. Spied your gauzed eggs in overhead silk. The first to be removed. You did not respond as your unborn were broken, swept up by corn bristles, killed there on the walk. There was no delight in what came next. I respect your end -- your fierce, final movements.
