I wrote this a year ago, and today - the weather demanded a revisit. If I open my office window, I can just smell the "spring" in the air. Sitting cross-legged leaning back the warmth of the day divine Tickling scratches of freshly mown grass - never a blanket as softly made as this Allergies notwithstanding Just over yon a race between my brown-haired child - and a particularly feisty cloud of dust She, on her trike …the weight of the world precariously balanced on three wheels flying at a toddler’s breakneck speed She was winning… I bear witness to this priceless treasure of Love, in its truest – purest form A smile never felt as good Then ~ In a whirling flutter of flying grass clippings and half-spent flower petals flops Curiosity encased in the form of a six year-old girl This grown-up smile willingly concedes victory to the super nova beaming at my side Rays of sunlight spun in gentle curls rest upon sweaty child brow And she says: “Mom?” “Hmm?” “Why does time fly?” “That, dear…is the only way it could ever keep up with you.” [This message has been edited by Nicole (edited 04-25-2001).] |

Oh hey I liked this one a lot. Especially the ending. Well done on this one. I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust. |

Spring is in the air over here too, nic. My what a beautiful day it was. This poem has me all nostalgic now - think I need to go get Mikey and take a few days in the mountains... Michael |

Very nice! I am glad to have gotten the chance to read something by you, the ending was just marvelous. ~Allan Build a man a fire, and he's warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life. |
