This poem is baised on an experience I had recently that really touched me. Thanks!

We all wander under the midnight sky
Gazing at stars in flight
We all reach up, longing to hold one
It seems like a hopeless fight
But listen close to me, my friends
I held a star one night!

I was lost in a dark and foggy night
Quite hard, it was, to see
And in the darkness, a flash of light
A star! It had to be
It was quite strange to see that orb
So very close to me

It lit up the whole world about me
It burned away the mist
I reached up as far as I could stretch
And the first time, I missed
But I tried again, and finally
I clinched him in my fist

At first his brightness burned my hand
I had such piercing fear
I had never seen such a beautiful thing
So close to me, so near
But then he sent his power though me
And now, all things are clear

But stars weren’t made for staying
In grubby human hands
They weren’t meant to stay on earth
To touch our filthy lands
Or to stick around and see us though
The gritty seashore sands

I let my star go to the heavenly skies
The place where stars belong
But the light he cast can never fade
For that, I never long
And when the times are tough, I hear
His beautiful starry song

And when your life is tough and hard
When you cannot see the light
Don’t ever try to stop on the path
Never give up the fight
Just remember, you know a lowly girl
Who held a star one night

Erica, I really liked this...but you are not a 'lowly girl'...I know this is just a poem and so I'll let it slide THIS time!

Aww hey yer not a lowly girl *hugs you*
You're awesome! And I loved the poem.

I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust.

I'm in love with my shadow
I admire it daily

Erica--If you held a star...that is because you are special.  Loved the poem!

So very happy for you, Erica.     It's wonderful that you held a star, even for a little while.  And although you may have had him cast directly under your smooth, seductive spell, you still let him go.
Very admirable.
The poem was great, I like the format!

Sharon and Javier, we are all lowly compared to the stars!

Martie and Nicole, you are both too kind!

Allan, I'm not too sure about that spell! LOL! Thanks for responding.

Forgot to hit the add to library key...

P.S. Sorry I missed you on ICQ earlier. It goes on automatically when the computer is turned on, and if I'm not the one turning it on, nothing gets done with my ICQ. Talk with you soon then!
