the rain is supposed to wash these feelings away
but instead, it's bringing back a flood of memories
that are taking me away on a wave of thought

there you are again, looking as beautiful as the day I met you
the sun shining on your face and the wind in your hair
how was I lucky enough to find someone like you?

funny, but it seems that whenever it rains, I remember you
probably because, for us, the rain was all that we knew
it poured over us like the outpouring of our first-loved hearts

the rain is supposed to wash these feelings away
but instead, it's bringing back a flood of memories
that are taking me away on a wave of thought

Last time I tried to wash memories away? I dropped the soap! (YOWSER!)

But yes, haunting happen at unexpected times, sometimes. Nicely put, Sir Sven.

Great poem Sven.....I liked how you expressed this one.

I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust.

I'm in love with my shadow
I admire it daily

Some outstanding work here, Sven.     I love the whole thing, namely how you began the third stanza with the word "funny" instead of just jumping to the point.  It gave an odd feel, that I really appreciated.     Did that make sense?  hehe
Wonderful poetry, my friend, as usual.

Do I know who this speaks of? Yes..I think I do. Those memories come at the most happy times in our lives..and the most sad times in our lives. They seem to make us question everything at that point. I wonder why..when we know we can't ever have it back and possibly wouldn't want it back.

*sigh*

I can see your sad eyes through this, and all I can offer is a hug.
