Be Vulnerable Sometimes sitting next to you Make me nervous, as my palm Raining all over my pen- A pen that write you my songs. Dare to be vulnerable tonight, As I sing in reminding myself. Dare to be vulnerable tonight, As I sing softly to background ...melody One word utter after another, I tell you my little world and me. One word... one word from you Make me forget about boundaries. Dare to be vulnerable tonight, As I see sincere in your eyes. Dare to be vulnerable tonight, As I see that’s the way ...learning to trust. So please pay care to my words, For the songs are hidden with ...private tales. So please be gentle to my wounds, For they’re already deep in ...my heart. ©May 14, 2003 Eliza Simmons Eliza Simmons |

I'm starting to like your style, Eliza, particularly the subject matter of your poetry. Vulnerability is something that people today seem to see as a sign of weakness most often, as something to be avoided, which causes us to shell ourselves away from one another in our "little worlds" as you say. It is a tragedy, yes, that so many people feel this way. There are many ways to overcome it, as you've done with your songs and poetry, and as you encourage others to do... It's not a sign of weakness, but one of courage, to expose your soft underbelly to the world for the sake of honesty. You wrote it well. Parasite Poets are the unacknowledged legislators of the world. |
