Tired of fighting
Hidden enemies of mind
Irksome worries and woes
Revolving endlessly
Touching peace with fear
Yet once again

Nary a glimpse of light
Inside dreary existence
Never a soul's delight
Entering this pit.

Yonder sparkle
Entices sullied mind
And touches worn heart
Rare tickle of hope
Silencing mental moans

Overwhelming happiness
Lashes out at gloom
Deflecting age's doom

Yesterday is ash, tomorrow is smoke; only today does the fire burn.

There's nothing wrong with getting older.  Seems like you're a bit upset about it, that you feel like hope is slowly crumbling as your life draws closer to its end. You seem to be a healthy man, JP, I wouldn't worry so much... I'm willing to bet you're not even half done with your life.

Yes, let that sparkle glitter and give you hope... and be sure to follow it, chase it if you have to, to the very end...

Thanks for the kind words LP, I do appreciate the sentiment.  Although, I'm not toooo worried about getting older, heck, I'm thrilled to be seeing 39, never thought I would see 30 much less anything more, and if things keep going the way they are, I may just see another 39 years (although that is highly unlikely darn it all...)

Happy Birthday JP.

and hey? I used look at birthdays as another scratch on the prison wall. Just doing my time. (How's THAT for a grim attitude? sigh.)

Now I look back and consider each one a small miracle.

Enjoyed JP--and you do always make me smile.

There is only tomorrow, so, let us look forward to it, as you do here.

Thank you.

Being less than a year behind you I think I understand somewhat, life is half way over and have I accomplished nearly half of my hopes/dreams/plans of my younger days? Sadly not but also things I never dreamed of have blessed my days so I guess it all evens out somewhere. God bless JP and Happy Birthday!!!

JP,

The title caught me (I haven't been doing much responding or writing lately) because in less than 4 wks I will be 39 as well.  Funny how it feels like all the years before this last year were just what needed to be and this last year is the true beginning...not sure I can explain it better than that, except that I am happy to be here and happy the past is just that.  Now, where is the party????
