Driving home I caught a glimpse Of the lake amid the wood without thinking I turned around to where the road marker stood Parking, I left my car and walked to the water’s edge A waterfall embraced the surface As it fell from a granite ledge I don’t know how long I sat there Listening to the sounds of peace I don’t remember thinking at all For a time the world seemed to cease Finally I sighed and stood up Wishing I could take this place Tuck it in my pocket in some way To keep this smile upon my face As I drove off, I glanced up The route marker read 223 I would remember and return To this place, this respite for me All day I kept the vision Of the waterfall under the tree I know I will return there again To the peace of route marker 223 |

Sharon~ This reminded me of the year I spent living at the Grand Canyon. I had my favorite secluded spot where I would go and just sit...sometimes for hours at a time. There is nothing cooler than sitting in the rain on the south rim of the canyon and watching a lightning storm on the north rim. Sometimes, I REALLY miss living up there...like right now. Thanks for sharing this. Hugs, ~Vicky "...until you have read the verse on his heart, you have not truly met the poet. ~vlraynes [This message has been edited by vlraynes (10-20-2002 11:30 PM).] |
