I cleaned out the fridge today
And it only took a minute
It seems, since you left me
There’s really nothing in it

No case of beer on bottom shelf
No barrel of cheddar cheese
No horseradish jar that leaks
No steak left to unfreeze

All I have is salad stuff
Lonely next to my Evian
Never thought I’d miss your junk
Now that you’ve moved on

*I actually am cleaning out the refrigerator and got attacked by my Muse who insisted I stop and write this. Bossy Girl isn't she...I think I'll name her "Musette".

Haha, its pretty good when cleaning the fridge can inspire you. Though this has a sad bit of truth in it.

Can your musette spare some mustard, cheese and luncheon meat? I've got the sourdough -- I just don't wanna go to th' store for th' rest!

Thank you all for your kind words.

JP, it seems I am out of fashion in Open..I don't get the replies there that I used to when I could spend hours replying to everyone else. So I pretty much hang out in here. I always appreciate your comments!

I can empathize De.  I don't think I've ever been in fashion in the Open forums.

Being in here seems so much safer to me now days.  My ego is fragile and my poems are leaning towards graphic self-disclosure.  I feel better in here with my family.

But we weren't talking about me were we?

I'll tell you a secret JP. I remember you... you have been everlastingly honest. I admire that in a writer. And underneath your words, I feel an ache that touches me.

An ache beneath your words
a pain that underlies
the happy face you show
and the cheerful smile lies

You touch our hearts today
you stroke our souls
you wrench our hope away
thrust upon winter's coals

Fire burns your heart
but never leaves ash
wisps of smoke of nothingness
from a flame nonexisting

Hey De, a quick inspiration thanks to you.  I will work on this I think, maybe you can help me out.

Only the last verse needs anything JP!! I like that you've incorporated the 'ash' into this....from you signature line?

I agree with your assessment, I will work on the last verse and maybe try to fill it out a bit more.

Just between you and me though - I did not intentionally tie it in with my signature line.  Must've been subconsious!

Maybe I will post this in the Open forum if I can get anything more on it.

BTW, I'm not sure if I mentioned to you how much you and your comments mean to me - you make a bright spot in my day whenever I see a reply from you.  Thanks!

Yes, Elvira and DreamEvil - how things have changed.

I particularly miss Red Letter (I wish her love and happiness whereever she is...)

Ron supplied a link to the 'old blue' pages once and I spent hours reading 'us' there...the group sure has grown.
