You Are the Frosting on my Cake

she danced a smile around the innuendos
of another chance at
determining the direction of
a new romance.

she asked a question I couldn’t hear
though the distance between our desire.
I nodded anyway,
just to keep her eyes brimming with
that look which was bending
my will.

she giggled, giggled,
“you are the frosting on my cake!”

I didn’t know what she was talking about,
but I smiled, and laughed with her
until I saw the whipped cream in her hand.

oh, that kind of frosting.
