Under the stage Under the actor's heavy feet Lead feet Pounding the ceiling Under which I huddle Cuddle fake furs In my hands Smell their must Blow away their dust In the dark Under the stage Voices Faint but loud Calling out to the empty auditorium Dress rehearsal The real performance is tomorrow I won't be here Feeling for junk in Weathered boxes Left out in the rain too long, Left soft, flat Overflowing with costumes Spilling over on my feet Or at least where I think my feet are. Our doubts are traitors, And make us loose the good we oft might win By fearing to attempt. ~Shakespeare |

Made me feel like a little girl going through an old trunk! I loved the feeling. Thank you! "I walked beside the evening sea and dreamed a dream that could not be." George William Curtis |

Joy, This is another one of your wonderful moments from life. I felt like I was there at that moment--as if it were happening as you were writing it down. It seems that you like to write in "the present" this way. I would suggest that you keep your poems as a journal, expressing your daily routines. It would be so much better than a typical plain old journal of notes. But I'll bet that's what you're already doing. Gene (formerly, u_gene) |

NIcely done here Joy......I got the full feeling within the poem. I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust. I'm in love with my shadow I admire it daily |

Wonderful imagery Joy: you give the reader just enough detail to really captivate and set the imagination running full speed. Well done Suburbia is where the developer bulldozes out the trees, then names the streets after them. - Bill Vaughan |

Martie, thanks. I'm glad to be here. Kathleen, I'm glad I brought some 'happy' memories. I love those. Gene, I do do that! Actualy I write a combo of rambling thoughts and poetry like this. Elizabeth, that's what I was going for. a picture in your head. DD, glad it's full and not partial. lol Colin, imagination is a gift and I'm more than happy to invite people to use theirs. That's one of the many joys of writing poetry don't you think? Thanks all. Smiles Joy Our doubts are traitors, And make us loose the good we oft might win By fearing to attempt. ~Shakespeare |
