This cold and deep a winters night,
I'm burrowed deep in eiderdown.
Blissful nest of winter warmth,
here I lie bemused,
while Faeries taunt my wakening,
to chase away repose.

Relentless is their mystic taunts,
upon this poets muse.
The only hope for rest this night,
my weapon now I hold.
This pen to grasp and pad in hand,
and back neath counterpane.

I surrender to their charms.
Insistant and exacting
this frigid midnight hour,
for me to write of Summers dreams,
a haiku is their wish!

"As the Faeries Waltz
Moonbeams dance upon the Sea
Magics Summer song"

Tis done!
Now please you mystic mites,
I beg you, let me rest!

A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails.

Wow! What a rich work using an evident awareness of meter in a free form and then incorporated the haiku right into the greater poem. This is a joy to read. What a tribute to an evident talent and awareness of poetry at so many levels.
