“WONTOP - OF THE WILD” by Bill Charles ~~~~ Wind on my face, BC on vacation, ran into Wontop, the flying squirrel… Hid behind a tree, when I saw him, thought he looked, a little abnormal… Just sitting on a limb, of the tree, carrying on, yelling at who knows… Had a bushy tail, and some whiskers, hair all over the place, like those afros… Scurrying about, all over and around, he ran right up my leg, he sure did… Wasn’t sure if it scared him, or me, didn’t look like he raised, an eyelid… That’s how I met that crazy animal, named Wontop-Of The Wild… He stopped on my chest, and said hello, then he looked at me, just smiled… A talking squirrel BC, yeh right, was I loosing it, from all the wine… Ah ha, if you followed me this far, come and join me, in the brine… ~~~~ |

RIGHT NBill darling boy as always this is utterly utterly wonderful. It bubbles with joy and laughter and is UTTERLY utterly delicious. The fact that you can have me smiling and giggling like this proves that you are a fine writer of range and altogether a wonderfully rounded human being. YOU have such a way of reaching inside and tapping directly into my emotions. Fabulous writing and absolutely wonderful pictures you have painted with this adorable work Do I love it? had to read this a couple of times to appreciate the way you work the rhyme subtley on the odd line. It is subtle and the rhyme adds to your picture and message without feeling contrived or forced which is hard to do. The words flow conversationally and sound right. I bet this took some work, and it is well done. |
