The table set with service for one
My heart on a platter ready for the slice and dice of your knife
Carve at an angle to find the richest blood

I am the keeper of many hearts in the center of my own

The heart of a child on the streets of Mexico City, his big brown eyes
following my hand to my pocket and then to his own…with a smile

The heart of an old woman, in the hall of a nursing home,
waiting for someone…anyone, to say hello

The heart of a boy named Paul, who shared with me, a first kiss

The hearts of abandoned kitties and neglected pups

I am the keeper of the hearts of my two daughters, each
claiming her own corner in mine, and the heart of a child …lost

My leading man Michael, will ever know the sanctity
of my devotion

And the heart of a poet, will always be welcome, as the heart of poetry
is that which is the keeper of my heart…of many hearts….
