A Tear

I feel a tear drawing near
Know that it will soon appear.
Spill my lid from deep my Id
Wet my face without my bid.

A bit has slid my nose and
Fell upon a dried up rose
Between the pages of a book
I found within a corners nook.

The thing was placed some time ago
The bashful of a living beau
A thought in symbol of a rose
Forever in this books foreclose.

I wonder this fragile flower
Its secret and magic power
To lay between this covers core
Eternally forevermore

It is a thing that lovers do
Perhaps it has happend to you.

Run across a note, an old letter?
Aye, 'tis how I first met her
'twas how she gave me my insight,
and why, Sir, I write the night...

you're still inspiring....

Great imagery with more than a hint of nostalgia.  I enjoyed this very much.

Seymour this is utterly wonderful, full of heart

I'm keeping this poetic rose
Into my library there it goes
A dream wrapped in magic for me to keep
Waiting to delight me when in poetry I sleep

Love and warm stuff
As always

Yes, this is what lovers do. I once received a single red rose sent by a beau overseas, who I was supposed to be going back too. I kept it in its vase on my bookcase for over 10 years. The writing had completely faded from the card (no matter, I knew the inscription off by heart….”Heaven, is the whole of the heart”), the rose was dried out, but intact. I shed many a tear looking at that rose.It pained me when I finally had to throw it away when I sold my mothers house. Thanks for taking me back down memory lane Sy.

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?
