*dreams get trashed too*

To look off in the distance
and see the same dreams dawning
To cower down in hell
and hear new demons spawning
The candles wink out one by one
The prayers are put on mute
Held hostage by my fear
and the mistakes i can't undo
"Dream like you'll live forever.
Live like you'll die tomorrow."
...put my weapons down
and give up the crown,
'cause the time i'm on is borrowed.

When buildings fall, the heavens flood;
When cities burn, a nation screams;
no one fights for a beaten child.
no one mourns the death of a dream.

To look over my shoulder
and see a new day dawning
To close my eyes and shudder
and ignore a spirit's longing
The streetlights come on block by block
The radio continues to blare
Standing, drenched in fear and panic...
but there's a new wind in my hair
"Dreamers only live at night."
...i'm finally giving up the fight.
i can't live in the darkness
with sparks my only light.

When buildings fall, the heavens flood;
When cities burn, a nation screams;
no one fights for a beaten child.
no one mourns the death of a dream.

would the dirty things all turn out fine
if i could turn back the hands of time?
life doesn't always shine so bright.
the will of god isn't always right.

To finish off the bottle
and choke on a dying wish
To shoot up a dose a real life
and never know what was missed

When buildings fall, the heavens flood;
When cities burn, a nation screams;
no one fights for a beaten child.
no one mourns the death of a dream.

you said i couldn't.
so i didn't.
so there.

"There he goes.
One of god's own prototypes.
Some mutated experiment never
considered for mass production.
Too strange to live.
Too rare to die."

Ethan baby...there are so many great lines, phrases and word play in this..so much wisdom and so many lessons learned the hard way...
your poetry has a certain soul quality about it that always touches me.
You write with a defiant honesty...and of course the bluesy melodics are always there.
and to your last verse I will simply say...
YES....YOU can. So good to see you here my friend.

You speak to me in riddles and you speak to me in rhymes.
My body aches to breathe your breath ... your words keep me alive.

I know how you feel, when I was younger I too went through a lot, my dad was always there for me but I've been abused and can understand how you feel! Sad but incredible, love it sweetie!

It is so good to write it all out Ethan, I have a young friend I am helping who writes much like you. Your expression is wonderful, keep writing, floria
