I landed into a fairy land so small
following a hare into a hole, that's all
woke up to the clamoring of spoons
and appeared at a mad tea party, not to soon!

Looked for magic formulae to get out
received word of hidden exits from scouts
asking me to swallow secret potions for me to leave
not knowing that the recipe would catch me deceived

I grew too tall to get through an encrusted door
shrank too small to lift the key from off the floor
found my way into an orchard with heart shaped fruit
and offended a guardian who had his army follow suit.

I am a young maiden given to falling asleep near babbling brooks,
while reading children's fairytales from illustrated
books;
I soon awoke to the prodding of my dearest Mom...
"awake, it's only a dream, the Queen of Hearts sounded an alarm".

Thanks for sharing this one, Martin...I still love "Alice In Wonderland"
I also love the Queen of Hearts, but in my version...Alice falls asleep at her computer because it doesn't want to work...and she dreams about the Queen of Parts.

Just goes to shoe the variety of topics you could all tap...personally I find it very enjoyable to give new life to old fables or familiar plays and novels.  That's where I have had the joy to get inspiration

Hey vandana,

Any equivalents of the great Alice in Indian
culture?
