The Shores of Alone

With petals soft as silken love
and thorns to mar its' silken glow
I hold it close, caress the stem
and as I do, my red blood flows.

Some say a rose can hold the truth
signify love, or hope or loss
my blood red rose mocks me this night
for with it came the highest cost.

A rose of motives so unclear
it should have brought such happiness
instead he dropped it at my feet
the night he gave me his last kiss.

Blood red, my valentine of heart
a wilted rose of memories
yet still its' fragrance does enchant
and someday it shall set me free.

Such a well expressed melancholy. Valentine roses always seem to wilt too fast much to my own chagrin as well.

Yes, you deserve much, much better. Sandra, I wanted to thank you for your kindness in sending me that Valentine Day card, that was very nice of you. I'm very ill right now, just wanted to make sure you knew how much I appreciate it and I hope to return here...someday...but I have no idea when.

i am a fan of roses as u can see, but they die far too quickly, I hate that about them
