He gallantly placed his trench coat
upon a puddle so she could step down
he had an ulterior motive

he hoped  she would invite him
back to her apartment
wash and dry his coat to the bone
but she wasn’t accustomed
to taking a naked man home

she said “thank you very much”
and gave him a hundred bucks
he stood with a little frown
she said “go buy some clothes”
Your gallantry sucks”
took a peek, smiled and turned around

You can complain because roses have thorns, or you can rejoice because thorns have roses.
