From the Valley
By Larry Chadwick

I retraced you in my mind,
Lest our memory should fade.
Outlines of what you mean to me,
And the past that we have made.

I reflected on the days gone by,
For you were always there.
Thoughts of what we came to be,
And the times that we have shared.

I won’t forget the beginning of us,
Nor the future that it brought to me.
Traces of the love we have shared,
And anniversaries that will always be.

I recalled the peaks of our life afresh,
Which were mountaintops of our days.
From depressions valley that I seldom see,
And in which I will not choose to stay.
