     he loves me
he can't have wandered
    too far from me
if he still tells me
          he loves me...

how the time has
     changed us
          individually
he is no longer the
weak
     but the resolute
i am no longer the
strong
     but the unsteady--
needing him was our
undoing...

but he still tells me
     he loves me...
my best friend--
the marine
i do
not
know...

The love of a good friend is ever lasting and if it goes beyond this you have the kind of love people dream of. What an excellent poem and I loved your presentation.
