I’m in a world just now of silver-beaded windows
and roaring winds; I cannot see the world outside -
for all I know it might be some far-flung myth.
There must have been some childhood time
when sheltered, warm, I gazed outside
to worlds obscured
by pounding, puddling rain –
I know! My mother said
that when we heard the thunder sound,
the angels scored a strike.
The strike today – is very near.

It’s let up, now, but still a busy world out there
I see the trees as if through graying veils
Imagine children elsewhere, gazing out at this…

(The wardrobe’s witch in Narnia, with Aslan’s fiercest loving warmth –
And Bilbo, yes! Our earliest complexities; our hopes and fears, personified.
Look farther back and folk-tales darker than our Grimm recall
Sparked imagination and an appetite for words that’s never left.)
(This was written during a torrential rain.  All I could hear was the drumming - and viewed the world only as if through a waterfall.  You know - let the imagination play - and you never know what will happen..!)

I really like the imagery in this - you did a very good job and the sound of this left an early-morning chill that one feels when just getting out from under the covers, just to see if the thunder really did bring the rain...
