How Selfish of Me

In a shattered world,
I have been running away, misloved.
I now fear the silence,
the fragrance of the past,
the dawning of a new love,
as I go through the motions alone.

Do you see me in the empty of words,
in the lonely of these pages,
the masked me, becoming a transparent I?

How selfish of me in these broken moments,
when in shadows, you must endure the endless nights,
your cries in darkness never heard,
the hush of your words so soft.

Inside, I store your angel wings.
I wrap my arms around you in warmth,
touch your hands in understanding,
soothe your ache with care.
Tonight, I write for you a vision of hope,
send you a better tomorrow,
cloak you in velvet softness of words.

In these precious few days shared,
I shall let go of my dreams, to help heal yours.
I shall mourn no more this night,
and shall depart from my memories of pain
that haunt from a once embracing love.
The power of you has captivated me,
my journey coming full circle
from the other side of yesterday.

There is no way out of body, yours or mine.
May my words be a lullabye to you
and may your silent expression bloom in time,
as I give to you, my angel without wings,
the inner light of my admiration.

thank you all..I have met my sister-in-law for the first time...I should be greatful for the life I have despite it's problems...
Compared to what she must endure mine are nothing....from a stroke at a young age to being wheelchair bound due mistakes in surgery... to loss of speech..to only be able to whisper...I cannot express the admiration and love I have for her...but thought I would try in words.
