February Cried

it was a cold lonely morning
and February cried
the chill of the moment
met the warmth of me inside
would it be a day so different
from the months of any other
no, so I pulled the cold around my skin
and placed one foot in front of the other
I started out in searching
just to be on my way
but became frozen here in my steps
cemented so I had to stay
I screamed out in my panic
a blood curdling curl
but an echo was all that I heard
when I let my voice unfurl
I was all alone at dawn
no one else was around
and I finally heard the beauty
of not even a sound
there is a calming song
when the world is fast asleep
a crisp peace in its own soul
with no secrets to keep
special was the day
frozen here for my ride
the melody of sweet silence
on the morning February cried

"I have already paid for all my future sins."  Sade...(King of Sorrow)
