A Single Hair On a Mountain Top

A timeline is inadequate,
Barely dimensional,
Akin to one single hair
On a mountain top.
Life is unlinear;
A line is swallowed
In its vastness.

Life, existence,
Is a tree
With outspread
Branches growing...
A road map
With straight stretches,
Sudden curves and
Cul-de-sacs,
Four-way stops.

The stuff of life
Is brilliant crayoned
Colors, shaded
Far beyond the outlines
And off the page.

A single hair
Cannot
Swallow a mountain.

We catch ourselves
In a rut
Of thought in terms
Of past and present,
North and South.
Acknowledging East
And West is in order,
As is right and left;

Thought canted
Sideways
And
Tilted.
