First Crush

In seventh grade, I start noticing boys
those wild barbarians
who played cowboys and Indians
they always made so much noise

suddenly, his looks start to turn my head
his deepening voice
this intriguing new feeling inside of me
fills my youthful soul with dread

elusive creature, I don't understand
yesterday, a little boy
chasing friends around the schoolyard
I turn around, and now he's a man

each Friday night, a dance at my school
in a tie and jacket
freshly scrubbed, hair slicked back
I can't stop staring, he looks so cool

please ask me to dance?I say with my eyes
he ignores me, I'm hurt
blushing with dreaded embarassment
that night, on my pillow...I cry

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Lyra, I am so sorry you had to go through that, how selfish can one be to ignore such a beautiful person like you! (sad sigh) I know just how you feel, for the prom is coming up for now, and no girls want to take me or be my date, and I only wish my dream girl Joanna who lives far away from me cojld be my date that night! (kiss on cheek) I hope now you have found your true love, and now you have a crush on him unlike one you can ever imagine of heavenly love! We all love you so much, sweet friend, this is so sad but beautiful! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Lyra, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Thanks Sue...I think we all go through that.
Its so painful at the time, but somehow the years dull the pain.

Noah...my dear sweet young friend...I would like to tell you from the vantage point of being my age...that everyone goes through that at your age...
You are really probably too young to be in a very serious relationship yet...it you are still going to proms...
but you are not to young to get your heart broken.
That can happen at any age, but I think it hurts more when you're young.
Don't worry so much about the prom...its only one night...true love lasts forever....
My advice is to find someone who is a friend, and who also can't find a date...and take her to the prom.  This is how I went to most of my proms.  You will probably have a better time because you will be more comfortable and able to be yourself.
Oh well...that was just a bit of Lyra's advice to the lovelorn.
Thanks for your reply!  and good luck with the prom!

Thanks Victoria...You had the right idea about proms, thats mostly what I did also.
I think proms are for people who are really much too young to be in serious relationships anyway...but of course, when we are that young, we don't realize that.

this really brought back memories for all of us girls! I had a crush on this boy in the 6th grade and I was way too shy to tell him and then some other girl scooped him up and my chances went out the window lol.
ah puppy love...so cute indeed!

Wonderful memories, Madame. I was a skinny homely boy, dreaming of girls, when I was young. The girls back then all adored the tall handsome guys in sports. So I dated my books and dreamed of queens and princesses. As I often still do, LOL... But now, God and His poetry are my dance partners. Thanks for sharing.

Stevie...I hated those dances.  The only reason I went to them was to get out of babysitting for my sister.
I was always a wallflwer...before I grew up to be a flowerchild
thanks for your reply

Joanna...thanks for your reply.  I think everyone goes through that stage of puppy love.  Its amazing how we all think its the real thing though.
