I wish to take a thought of love for you

I hear the sound of yours for who I’m sure.
My wish for life is but to stay your love
For soul I give and bid you take above.

We're not to be just some pure love to see.
For all I have and give in heart to thee.
We're not to be a dream in night to hold
If were this way to catch and then to hold.

My rest does take my eyes into the dream
a place we share in flows of one pure stream.

Ok, my friend, you've confused me...this is not criticism, just a question...

is "were" to be "we're" and if so...edit...

but if "were" is "were" shouldn't it be "were it"?

Magnus darling boy this is very melodic I can hear it singing to me. I love this it is sooooo beautifully constructed. The flow and the rhythm in this is utterly wonderful
