Dime Novel

Light-years ago, this story came to a close,
With its careworn covers, faded papyrus,
Long dead characters once lovingly composed,
Cantillating voices now silenced by time.

Nearly forgotten, upon neglected shelves,
Juxtaposed to bound and gilded editions,
Representations of our elapsed selves,
Tawdry in portrayal, ever thin on plot.

What dreamless sleep awakens me tonight,
To send me leafing through familiar pages?
As though without my own resolve, I invite
This antagonist to undo present ties.

Perhaps the epilogue is not satisfied
With the way this narrative came to an end,
The scene is set and cannot be brushed aside,
I wait for the ineludible sequel.

Excellent, Corinne, just excellent poetry. A pleasure to read.

(smiles) Ooohhhhhhhh...absolutely breathtaking, sweet friend, may this only be the prologue of such joy and happiness to follow for your heart always and may you write many sequels of your beautiful words of love always! (kiss on cheek) We all love you so much, sweet friend, this is fabulous! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Corrine, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

I would gladly read sequels to this story,  with its fragile, soft imagery.

Read this three times...and my eyes are tired, but still, I enjoyed this, because every time I hit on the word sequel, I read squeal...

and both work...

I so enjoy your writing, my friend.  I could stand to see a bit more...

Kathleen, thank you kindly. Ya know, with St. Patty's day up and coming, maybe we should collaborate. What say you?

Noah, thank you for your sweet words. You are always so kind.

Sodpossum, thank you!

Thank you, Midnitesun!

Sunshine, I'll try to be in more, promise. Life kind of takes over sometimes! Thank you, you brought a smile to my face!
