Bon Appetit Blues

Depressing is the day
The doc delivers the bad news
Causing a condition called
The Bon Appetit Blues

A bacon egg and cheese biscuit
Is what I'd like the most
Instead I have some melon
and a piece of melba toast

Why can't I have a Danish
Or piece of pumpkin pie
Without having to worry
About triglyceride

At times it's such a struggle
To keep this frame of mind
Raiding the refrigerator
for the treats I might find

When I wake in the morning
Sometimes it's quite close
Hit the bathroom running
From a fiber overdose

Reading all the labels
Trying to shop smart
What I thought a staple
Is not even on the chart

Walking down the aisle
My taste buds would agree
All that seems appealing
Is neither sugar nor fat free

(sigh) Oh, I know just how you feel, sweet friend, it is hard to resist our favorite foods but as long as we cherish our favorite foods and eat sensibly in-between, we will be happy in the end always! (big hugggssss) We all love you so much, sweet friend, this is soooo wonderfully said! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet friend, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

*sigh* I am sorry that you suffer these appetit blues...I have discovered that to wet my taste buds it must have some fat and sugar in it....like a great steak...all the flavour is in the marbling of fat it has. My heart goes out to you. **big hugs**

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

Hey Mr. Alley Cat, you're not alone, cholesterol, triglycerides all problems that keep us from the goodies...nice poem here, I enjoyed it. floria

LOL, though it isn't so funny. I have to take meds daily, and one of them is for acid reflux disease. So, I do understand. Even looking at salsa or spaghetti and pizza does me in unless I've had the antidote...that stupid little purple pill. I'm sure that's more than you wanted to know about me.

It really stinks when we can't eat what we really crave! In my case, I've been on a diet since new years eve, so basically I'm eating health food (yuck) and very little sweets. I really like your poem though, the title drew me in
