Little Fire in the forest A little spark in the dark From a little campsite Late one night Fed some dry dry grass Made a little fire fast. Got hotter and hotter As it fed on rotten timber And a slight little breeze Move the blaze to trees And spread the horror to the birds and bees. To the wolves and the rats And the deer and the bats Every creature in the forest Burned to death in blazing pain and horror. In the little fire in the forest From a little spark in the dark From a little campsite. OH, Newell! Golly! You certainly did this well, and I'll be careful. You should send this to the Forest Service-they could use it in notices to campers or something. Nan |

This is a very good poem, But at the very begining of it, I was rooting for the little fire to grow. Dont know why, You made it sounds so helpless. Till It killed. then the true message sunk in. Just my take on it, Jen |

Hi Jen! Yeh, they do look kind on innocent when they first start, then a wind and suddenly there is no hope, it spreads out of control. -newell Sharing God's Love through perfectlovepoetry.com |

(tears fall down my cheeks) I love ifre, but it saddens me when it spreads into brushfire and ravages forests and wilderness and habitats! (big hugggssssss) Such a powerful vision, sweet friend, your words are always so wonderful to read! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Newell, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton |
