I've climbed the heights of Azkahbar
Seen knights turned into men
I've walked on beaches near and far
Danced till dawn and then…

I've seen the sunsets and the mist
I felt the touch of love
I've lived and learned of passion's kiss
I've felt the spirit move…

I've been outcast hungry and cold
I've been lifted too
I've delved for brass and once for gold
Seen links 'tween me and you

I've travelled oceans heard their call
And climbed the minarets
I've observed the angel's fall
Been found in love's duets

I've been inspired by works of art
I've witnessed fluttering wings
I've seen life at end and start
When God's soprano sings

I've felt the call of autumn chill
And springtime in its bud
I've seen life I've seen men kill
While cows chew on their cud

I've been a royal maiden fair
I've seen the knight bow down
I've seen beauty rich and rare
And sometimes lost my crown

I've been to Paris in the spring
I've felt the tug of Rome
I've experienced everything
Yet never left my home

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Kethry what a fascinating poem and isn't it the truth!  What a wide world is open to us now through the computer and before that obsession, remember books?  You did a great job on this one and I saved it to read again, and again.

Keth darling sister of my soul, what can I say this is an utterly utterly brilliant poem. I was going to be all world weary and say darling heart what am I supposed to answer to this I wrote this poem you know I did. Okay I didn’t but I nearly did. Okay I didn’t nearly do it either, but if you hadn’t waltzed off with all the words darling heart I would have done. Yes I would and they’d have been better, I would have arranged them slightly differently.

Okay it’s gorgeous and I love it, it's wonderful and so on and so on, why do I bother you know what I’m going to say don’t you darling heart? Hmmmm? So since I’ve said it all before I shouldn’t have to say it again, should I? No exactly, I could if I were more organised have my replies numbered and just say look up reply 75, but since I haven’t I’ll have to manage.

Yes I love it, well done darling heart, right I’m off

Keth, this is such a warm hearted poem. I love these lines
"I've been a royal maiden fair
I've seen the knight bow down
I've seen beauty rich and rare
And sometimes lost my crown"

What would we do without computers, I was on the other night and went into antique stores in Italy. Oh such fun..And the only travel we do is in cyberspace. I wrote a poem about that, now I will have to go dig it up..this was great. floria

Kethry, this is a very beautiful poem, and you strike a nerve, deep in my heart. Being retired I'm on a wonderful, adventuresome and very wild journey, myself. I have never had so much fun and joy, and really great times as I have during the last three years of retirement. In fact everything I know and do is richer and brighter! Everything! Thanks for reminding me how wonderful the spirt is and how many opportunities we have to enjoy.

And also, you are a superb, poet, Keth.

I've been on wild safari-
Tracked the cat food to its lair;
Trekked weary miles
Across the mall
To find the bookstore there.
Hid, silent, while the stampede ran
To the bargain table,
Clutched my wallet to my breast-
Got out while I was able.

Love your poem.

Irish,
travelled too like this...have you?

Victoria, before PC's there were books and I remember books that enclosed a world as I was enclosed in an overstuffed armchair.

ellie,
yes the world has opened up...and also closed as we spend more time in front of the mind killer.

Cheryl,
I always read aloud when writing, than probably explains why my syllable count is so often off...you have to take into account my accent.

Enchantress,
thank - you. The imagery from the books passed through my mind to be splashed on the paper.

Marsha my love,
you did better than write this poem...you inspired it and gave me the words.

Lyra,
armchair, train, bed and plane. Wherever there is a spare five minutes.

Larry,
I like a little whine, particularly a little house whine.

Sudhir beloved one, it does not come close to the wonder of your write...but thank you anyway.

Juanita,
I carry my own gas...remember?

floria,
it seems everyone is travelling to the exotic these days. I look forward to your poem.

Noah,
I was hoping it was my lovely... soul that took you to those places. Oh well cest la vie.

Greeneyes,
you know what they say and I paraphrase "We shall not all sleep but we shall all be changed...therefore a change is as good as a holiday"

Sandra,
you are right...tho tis troublesome at times. Thank you for the observation.

Startime,
alas I have not travelled as I would but I am coming to America in September so perhaps...

Newell,
you make me green sir.

Nan,
I do believe I have taken that journey also. Thanks so for the smiles.

Martie, your backyard becomes the world when you write lady. Many thanks for the encouragement.

Raven,
t'would do not good... even away from home my mind becomes enmeshed in a good tale. Failing a book or the iinternet I would be condemned to reading advertising.

Duncan,
I get frequent flyer headaches...from the late nights and the early starts... tis alright though for Lent is coming and I can give up sleep entirely for this time. lol.

Keth

Lady in White,
dearest heart, thank you for saying I leave you speechless...it is an honour to receive those words from you...you so often leave me speechless in wonder or tears. your writes pull me from the mundane to the mystical.

Charisma,
If I have lifted your heart if only for a moment...then I am happy.
