on the Metro North, I ride from the city to the suburbs passengers asleep at my side a cummuter train, northward bound a new way of travel, I think I've found taking tickets, the conductor walks the aisle a grey haired man, with a kindly smile as the afternoon sun descends I question, why some things must end and as the sun sets in the west I view my life with no regrets I've seen the worst and still feel blessed for all the times when I feel sad the goodness still outweighs the bad and as the daylight dims to night and colors fade to black and white I look beyond the darkening sky for answers more than ever now, I wonder why some dreams survive, but some must die |

Lyra, I can't believe you wrote this and then had the nerve to say your poetry doesn't compare to mine....you are right it doesn't...it far exceeds it. You excel in all that you do. write on sensei Kethry Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind. Unknown |

Lyra~ When you can view life in every splendor and every heart break....and still feel blessed, then that speaks of the person you are....amazing.... Lauren~ Step through the barrier of my mind, enter my soul, feel my desire, let my eyes guide you into the shadows of my heart [This message has been edited by Greeneyes (01-27-2002 09:47 AM).] |

(smiles) Soooooooooo beautiful, sweet friend, yes, sometimes our hearts will break, but as long as we count our many blessings with a smile, we will find that our joys will outnumber our tears and we will find true happiness! (kiss on cheek) We all love you so much, sweet friend, it can be saddening to see dreams die, but if we cherish what makes us happy, we will find great hope. You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Lyra, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton |

Thanks Keth...for your reply and also for that rather magnanimous compliment! Victoria...Actually my husband is a vegetarian and I am pretty close to being one, so I don't think my life is like a steak....although sometimes I do yearn to eat one (too fattening) Maybe my life is too fattening LOL.... Thanks for your reply copyright2002 Lyra Nesius |

Lauren...thanks for the reply and the very sweet compliment. The truth is that a lot of bad things have happened to me during the past few years, but they have served to make me a stronger person...thats one of the reasons why I feel blessed. The other one is that I met the most wonderful man in the world and I am now married to him. He stepped in and took care of my whole family, after my older son died...and we had just met a few weeks earlier. Noah...I truly thank you for your very nice reply. I believe that life is what you make of it, rather than the sum of experiences which happen to you. copyright2002 Lyra Nesius |

Maureen...thanks for your reply. I am probably a bit older than you are and so I might look at things from a slightly different perspective. The reason I have no regrets is because everything that I have ever done so far...has led me to where I am now...and truthfully, thats not all bad. Barry...thanks for reading and commenting. I actually wrote this poem while visiting NYC for my son Victor's law school graduation in May of 2000. I stayed at my sister's house in the suburbs and took the train from NYC to the railroad station near her house. I just wrote what I was feeling and observing at the time. Floria...The train is a great place to think...as long as someone talkative doesn't sit next to you. I actually wrote this poem as well as the one about the law school graduation on that ride back to my sister's house. thanks for reading and replying! copyright2002 Lyra Nesius |
