A tornado in July It was sunny, then rapidly It just got black as night you see As we were driving casually. Just didn't know as we drove slow And the winds began to blow We were seconds from its ugly eye That fast train from the sky There goes debris. See! Flying through the trees. Posts, electric wires all over the ground Just lying there as the wind blew 'round A souvenir shop along our way, no roof no front just blown away Why we could see the store's insides still organized Like a great big dollhouse on that day. Then the winds were calm about And the sun again was brightly out But many clues were still around from the viscous whirlwind pound Of a tornado in July. Hi Noah, Yes, everything went ok. We were stranded for the night without electricity. We were vacationing in Egg Harbor, Wisconsin in Door County, two summers, ago, and went out to dinner, early evening. Very sunny, not a cloud in the sky. Driving back to the condo, about 10 miles, north, this tornado came across right in front of us out of nowhere, off Lake Michigan. Unbelievable! I still remember it so vividly. So I captured it in a poem. Thanks for reading. -newell Sharing God's Love through perfectlovepoetry.com |
