Happy-happy,joy-joy
jury duty,oh boy!
Time to full-fill my cilvil duty
I just as soon to have a cootie.

Lies and truths,truths and lies
defense hired,alibies.
Twisted stories and facts stretched
the more I hear the more far-fetched.

Shall I be chosen or shall they pass me by?
Hell if they pick me,I say let him fry!

This was great Sodpossom, LOL.  I'll bet if you read this to the judge, he'll excuse you from jury duty, lol!

Thanks for the grins!

Hey, YOU! What happened to "Innocent until proven guilty?!?"

A delightfully playful piece that certainly isn't the real emotion by which you face your civic duty. After all, should you ever need the same of 12 others, you'd want their frivolity to be confined to the levity outside the chair. The panel chair, that is. :O}

A fun and humorous way to deal with some of life's entries.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Day after day,
excuses I hear,
From upstanding citizens,
Who want out of here.

Some are quite humorous,
Some are quite dumb,
But I'll end with a dozen,
When voir dire is done.

They rant and they rave,
some even have cried,
But they'll be the jury,
and they must decide.

The fate of a person,
rests in their hands,
No laughing and griping,
when justice demands.

Some don't like lawyers,
Most want out of there,
But in doing there duty,
Then juries are fair.

People don't like to be on juries?  Never would have guessed... hehe...
enjoyed the poem.

Enjoyed your poem.It was better than mine.I'm one of those that likes to come up with excuses not to do it.One time was enough for me!

(giggles in delight) Your words always make me smile, sweet friend, it would be exciting to go for jury duty just once just to hear all the truths and lies and absurdity but then never more after that! (smiles) We all love you so much, sweet friend, you are a dleight to us all! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Stevie, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

sodpossum,
Just got notified the other day myself.
Don't know if my usual excuse will work this
time. Everyone is entitled to a jury of their peers, but , since I don't have any that I'm aware of, they usually let me off.
Clever write. Much enjoyed.

Great subject, Stevie... and a real good poem!
I don't think they'd believe you were pregnant though...like Keth suggested....You're too skinny!
Why don't you just go there and bring a notebook with you and you can write lots of poetry about all the different people you observe all day long....then, we could have the fun of reading about all of those characters...
But you really shouldn't weasel out of it, because it is your civic duty...and besides you might make the judge mad and then you might end up being on trial instead of being in the jury!

I recall having been selected once and think I turned it down because of a previous commitment, but it's as you suggest there's enough cr*p dished out makes you not want to
participate in the first place

LOL, I've been on JD twice, and called two other times. Why are they always picking on me? Actually, JD can be interesting. But I saw an awful lot of dramatic acting going on in both trials in which I served. Good poem. Show this to one or both attorneys or the judge if you are brave. You'll be out the door before they open it.

oh man, jury duty has to be so frustrating.
Especially when half the jurors think someone is guilty and the other half thinks they are innocent! I have never been called for jury duty yet, but I'll bet soon It will be my turn, I do not look forward to it.

LOL perfect timing on this one, sort of surprised to see it in here to tell you the truth   Just finishing up my month of jury duty quite ironically... joy joy is right!!  Had to go in like 7 times so far, what fun.  Funny stuff here, liked it.

Strive for higher levels, if they seem out of reach... Grow, and they will get closer.

sodpossum,

Of juries it's fun to make cracks,
As long as you don't live in Iraq.
But heaven help the day you need one,
For we'd rather be busy having some fun.

Funny poem but serious topic.
