Longing from afar

The differences so many
Yet, quite the same we are
Since the first day
I've longed from afar

The fights we've gotten through
Of you, such little I know
what's known, is my heart bleeds true
Defensively, not much that you show

Independent and free
Strong willed and opinionated
I'll be as much help as I can be
Only friends, are we associated

Such feelings run deep
For what reasons I know not why
When tears drop your eyes
I too, want to weep

When you laugh,
I can't help but smile
For your happiness
Brings me feelings not known for a while

So whatever becomes, of you and of me
so easy, or so hard,
Through life or death
I will always long from afar.

Very touching. It'd a long way to fall when you love someone who is determined not to share those feelings, especially if it is a really close friend. Things will get better, they always do!
