on the horizon of a fairytale

In the story of me,
a bookmark, gently placed
between two pages in the
chapter of you, falls silently
to the floor to be the subject of ponder

shall I reach for it, to serve this
heart a reminder of your oppression,
sustaining the heartache which reads
between the lines…always carrying
on from one page to the next….

or better it's left where it lies
to never again mark the pages worn
and yellowed by the ever presence of disheartenment,
closing the chapter…one day soon to be forgotten…

I love the imagery you convey in this one Annie. Such a tender, ethereal piece. Sometimes, yes, bookmarks are better forgotten...the heart heals easier that way.

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?
