Ruby Red Dawn

Young was our love in the red ruby dawn
Mirrored on sheen of a pine forest pond
Visions still linger of love on your face
Captured in moments of memory’s embrace
And fresh forest scent of the evergreen balm

Crimson light shone through the window of love
Enveloping skin with the hues from above
Like visions illumined through red cellophane
The first light of sun through a clear window pane
And up on the rooftop, the cooing of dove

We sat by the pond on an old wooden pier
Watching the pinks of the sky disappear
Beginning of day and the end of our night
As geese on the far corner lifted in flight
We said our goodbyes to these moments so dear

Of things we remember, that stay in our minds
It’s the red ruby dawns that we don’t leave behind

The dawns always seem to outdo the sunsets don't they, Elizabeth, whether literally or metaphorically.  This was beautiful on all accounts.

Another incredibly wondrous poem from your pen of golden words and a glorious picture do you paint, my dear friend!  Hugs, Ellie

Liz, I knew from the title I would enjoy this and then I saw your name and I knew I would love this before I even read it!

You and Nan are by far the queens of sonnets...this is gorgeous writing!  How I wish that I could bring moments and love to life like you do - well, I'll just stick to being your fan instead

Take care,
Melissa~
