It happened long ago,
though it seems like yesterday.
Funny how the love can go,
but the memories stay.

I still recall the way
you would walk into a room.
Every eye would turn your way
and watch your every move.

Nobody else mattered then.
You only had eyes for me.
I never would have dreamed
that it wasn't meant to be.

Gentle kisses, words of love
and nights of passion spent.
Now I look at photographs
and wonder where they went.

I know that it's been years
since you held me tight
and there really is no reason
for me to think of you tonight.

I have a man who loves me
and it would truly break his heart
to know that I still think of you
and wonder where you are.

So he must never know.
These feelings must never show.

Tennessee Angel - yes, he must never know, but we can all have those pleasant memories, as you have written in your poem..

Hey Tennessee!!!!!!!!
You wrote a beautiful and truthful poem!
I think everyone has feelings like these, from time to time.  There's really nothing wrong with them if you just keep them in your mind, as pleasant memories of beautiful past experiences...

I really enjoyed the nostalgic feeling this poem holds, though I truly cannot relate it to any feelings of my own or past acquaintances.

Very well done.

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Stacy, this is such a beautifully heartwrenching poem, I know just how you feel, and my heart goes out to you both and your old boyfriend, and I pray that now he has found true happiness and now he can smile over your found happiness too and deep in your heart, he will always be your friend! (kiss on cheek) Soooooooo beautiful, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Stacy, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Tennessee Angel, your write of past love with sweet tenderness and a sense of longing. It's such a natural thing, especially when it's of that first love. I think, if you confronted that past flame now, you'd see it just wasn't meant to be. I certainly have and it helps that flame die into an ember. Cheryl
