state of confusion

Inheritance

Mother,
this is not what you dreamt
for me,
to follow your crossing -
the long way
around the world
to rapture.

Although three decades
separate our experiences,
time seems irrelevant
to the patterns of circumstance.

There are differences in our realities:
you prefer to dwell in calm thoughts,
while I lie awake at night
orphaned by turbulence.

If I can learn to sit
miraculously quiet
in a noisy room,
you will have taught me well.

Corinne,  I think this says a lot about
you, your mother and your relationship with
her...Very well done...  Thank you for
sharing what seems to be a real part of
yourself..

This left me with a warm feeling, Corinne, like a hug from my mother
thanks!

*sigh* no matter what you are a tribute to your mother...the love you have for her flows wonderfully in this poem. **big hugs**

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

I like the association of impatience, rapture with your youth...you will gain your mom's experience though and then the quiet years will come when you will least expect them...I'm just projecting here. Nicely done
