~Ice Memory~

How much longer will your memory haunt me?
It’s still there although I’ve tried so hard to set it free
There inside my soul is a small winters chill
It’s a piece of your memory that remains there still
Within the rest of me I’m filled with a rainbow light
Love scampers through me filling me with delight
But there in that dark corner of my soul I cry
And I want to be free of it now I want to finally fly

Why do I still hold that memory in that scarred place?
Why is it still there I thought I’d removed all trace?
I have a love that burns with the fiercest of flame
My body is warm and my heart burns just the same
But there within my soul there remains some snow
And despite how high the fire the ice continues to flow
I wish it wasn’t there that I could bid it farewell
I want to enjoy heaven not have a piece of that hell

What can I do to cut out that cold deadly memory?
Why can’t I abandon it and set my soul completely free?
I don’t cherish its flavour it tastes bitter and cold
And I want my soul to have a warm memory to hold
The rest of me is happy I’m suffused with loves light
My heart is singing constantly and love shines so bright
I want to cast it out to be heated with love’s fire
To be warmed in every part of me with its liquid desire

Marsha

Oh Marsha.. you really wrote this well!!!

I know!!! and it sort of gnaws there...

Some things only pass in time, dear friend.. and with all the love in your soul, you will cast this out.. soon.

Hugz always,

Oh, how I wish I could do the same for some of my memories Marsha. You've captured a very tangible feeling that haunts many of us, I think ... an excellent write!

Best wishes,
/Kit

Marsha,

My heart goes out to you.  I totally understand where you are coming from with this one.  I know all too well what it is like to live with a memory that just won't let go.  I lived that way for a year, but mine is actually turning out to have a happy ending (I hope!).  May your ghost that haunts you dissipate in the wake of the happiness and love you find in the future.
Take care.

Sometimes memories are what keep us going.  I enjoyed this lovely poem very much.  The flow was as sweet as the content.

Write from the soul and the words will flow
