To stand overlooking valley so wide,
Exposed to view and not able to hide,
Hearing the call of a vast destruction,
Echoes outward with no true direction.
Standing thus feeling thrust into the sky,
There’s a moaning that changes to a cry,
Half a warning and partially a call
To take to flight not perceiving the fall
That may or may not await to take me,
It lures me with the soaring birds I see,
False assurances and misconceptions,
A security that’s just illusion.
~ No, I’ll not fly those terror friendly skies,
~ I see your oppression form with my eyes.

Professor Gloom, are these left over feelings from 9-1-1? Just want to make sure I got the message. Enjoyed. Cheryl

Thank you, His poet,
Actually these are more of outgrowths from 9-1-1
And the fact that the terrorist have won by achieving their aims.
When elderly U.S. Senators have to remove their pants because of an artificial hip,
Metal of Honor winners have to fight to carry their metals, and ordinary objects are
Confiscated by under-trained, uncaring, unfeeling, and unthinking stooges, they have been successful in disrupting our lives and sending spiraling toward a police state.
“Those that give up freedom for security deserve neither”
But, perhaps this will not come about,
Or perhaps it will

very well said, Prof! The answer(s) however, seem to be beyond me--so I'll not try to philosophize anymore. (A philosophy in itself, if ya think about it! )

Loved this.

Thank you, Serenity,
The answer depends on which question you refer to,
But to return to the way it was is now impossible,
Best solution:
Profile passengers,
no young girls or old war hero
And yes it means so Arabic looking young men will be needlessly
Detain and put through some abuse, but sharing that amongst the
Entire populace won’t help.  Perhaps the social pressure might make that
Community constrain itself.   I don’t think so, but it actually is more fair.
Arm the Pilots, not many will attempt to break in with pocket knives to take on a person with a gun.  The don’t call them an equalizer for nothing.  Even if only one is armed the deterrent is there.
Sky Marshals, same Idea, even if on one of four flights, how would they know which one it was being protected.
Allow Police the fly armed, think that fits with the same theme.
No plan is perfect,
But this is suppose to be the land of the free, and given the choice the people with protect it, they just have to be allowed to do so.
oppps
too much of my philosophy? Probably.
