Silence reigns through halls
embellished in tapestries of yesterday.
A multitude of colors cascade
over dreams of tomorrow.

Echoes carry through out
abandoned corriders
once filled with magical moments
of grandeure.

Mystical bands play
to the ghosts of
what once was,
only to be heard
by empty ballrooms
filled by the elite
of the past.

Laughter resounds
on cobblestone
paths through gardens
of memories.

Fountains begin to crumble
into the dusts of today,
but yet, if you listen closely
you can still hear the music....

and the band plays on.

(sigh) Sooooooo hauntingly beautiful, sweet friend, yes, the memories will always remain, and the songs and voices will always be held and cherished close to the heart wherever we travel! (kiss on cheek) I love it, sweet friend, this is wonderfully spellbinding, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Donna, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Your poem, I am sure, conjures up different memories in your readers.  But, I as one who has entered the serious senior citizen stage of life am well attuned to your words.  Abandoned corridors, empty ballrooms evoke strong feelings, and a yearning to do it all over again.

Lovely, lovely, lovely!

It took me to the great hall in the Von Trapp house in the Sound of Music.

Then to others I've seen in other movies and read of in books. Empty halls with but ghosts of memories floating and flitting.

Enjoyed the read, the melancholy, the reverie.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Gentle Spirit, this is so lovely, it is going into my library. Chris
