Custom had it, they ate lotuses in this land
spells turned a steady marriage off its course;
kids sat all in rows and could not form circles
as new teachers entered, pupil's faces turned purple.

with new ideas, the principal's eyes would pop.
he wanted teachers to keep decorum
but the town had been tired of that forum
rock music, beatle style came into being
aldolescent girls would know who they'd be seeing.

Parents wanted kids to sit, eat and be quiet
if you spoke out of turn, that would end in a riot.
sinister spell books appeared at dinner chimes,
young girls would run away on their own time.

Whatever led to change, the town did not know
but they knew this schoolmistress
who fell for the headmasters glance,
all at once, her wilful pranks
backfired into weaving a love trance.

Principal's daughter one was keen on leaving home
younger daughter two was happier with a scone;
she would be feeding the pigs she wanted to keep
but the air of the family had started to steep.

To make a long story short daughter two sees her dad
making love with this new mistress and had gotten sad,
she kept the tale secret until Xmas came
when at the reunited table her dad was put to shame.

Mother walked out in a huff ,
before the turkey was served,
she wanted to know about the affair
and where their marriage swerved.

In the meantime, his mom announced her coverup of her marrital sins
making her son feel that her love for him was tossed into a bin.
and the wife made sure that the new couple would not escape on a boat cruise.
she took care to set the family boat on fire to prevent further abuse.

How did they reunite after this fall out?
The teacher left when kids called her a tramp,
the man's mom died, leaving him with her ashes.
Tragedy as always brings people together
when principal and wife met again on the coast,
they re-enacted their vows.

A real look at the intricacies of life, Martin...

A thought-provoking write... I, of course, would have done something more than burn a boat!!! ::laughs::
